About Us

Tim Sherer has been in the financial services industry since 1970, providing knowledgeable service and advice to his clients.  He received his bachelor’s degree in business from Ohio University, graduating with Honors (Cum Laude), and his MBA from Santa Clara University.  Continuing his career-related education, he has earned the professional designations of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).  Tim is CEO of The Sherer Group, LLC and Branch manager of J.P. Turner & Company. LLC. in San Jose, California.  Tim was also founder and CEO of an internet start-up, Extracents, Inc.

Demonstrating a seasoned understanding in meeting the needs of high net-worth individuals, successful professionals, retirees and business owners of both private firms and public corporations, Tim’s focus is on retirement, estate planning, executive benefits and charitable planning.

Tim is the past President of the Silicon Valley Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.  He also has achieved membership status in the Honor Roll of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), an international consortium of the top 5% of the world’s insurance producers and financial planners with only 5% of these attaining Honor Roll ranking.  He is a member of the American College’s Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) associations.  Tim has been a past speaker at the MDRT’s annual international meeting, a keynote speaker, penned numerous financial articles and been a moderator of business courses for the Life Underwriters Training Council and the National Association of Financial Services Professionals. 

Tim is a past member of the Business Alliance Team of the Saratoga Education Foundation and a Charter Club President of the San Jose Active 20-30 International Service Club, and a prior Board member of Saratoga Little League.  He has coached baseball and basketball for many years.  In his leisure, Tim is an avid fly fisherman and skier and enjoys motorcycle and dirt-bike riding.  He and his wife, Theresa, have one child.  They are residents of Los Gatos, California.
